3rd gradeThe 3rd grade is an amazing time in your child's education. We will be working with addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, telling time, geometry, reading fluency and proficiency, different forms of writing, government, health and wellness, along with different science labs. Along with all of our academic work, we will be growing together to develop or social skills to make our schools a safer and more welcoming and friendly place to be.
Many parents ask how can their children receive good grades in my class. It all has to do with effort. I can see and tell when a student is trying their hardest and practicing their skill to better themselves. I can also tell when a student is not. If students are giving a 100% everyday, I have no doubt in my mind that they do amazing in our classroom. Grading Procedures All grades will be directly inputed to the online grade book, which is accessible through your School View account. If you do not have a School View account, please register with Coleen in the office. Grades will be given as follows:

Classroom rules
We are in the Dragon zone 100% of the time. This means that we are being Respectful, Responsible, cooperative, and safe. In our classroom we respect each other and each others' property. This means that we do not touch, take, or use others peoples possessions with out obtaining permission first. There is no name calling, teasing, bullying, hitting, kicking or any other form of negative action towards ANYONE PERIOD. There is zero tolerance for this kind of behavior in the school and on school grounds, INCLUDING THE BUSES. Please refer to your parent-student handbook for more information on consequences for these actions.

Reading Click "reading" for reading practiceReading is so important in our daily lives, and the more we read the better readers we become. This is why I encourage our students to read as often as they can. Whenever they have a little down time in class I expect them to be reading or finishing up some other work. I hope that you encourage your children to read at home as well. One way to make sure this happens is to have a set amount of time a week that you and your reader sit down and read together (let's say 10-15 minutes a night 4-5 nights a week). Just by adding that time to your daily routines will benefit your child's reading skills immensely. I understand that not all will be able to do this, but I still hope that you read with your children as much a possible.
